Dear Aunty Phyllis, We are so grateful that we were able to come up and see you the day before you slipped away. Although you couldn’t talk, when asked if you were pleased to see us, you nodded and tried to smile. We thank God for your life of service and great impact, touching so many lives. You had tremendous organisational skills, planning everything far ahead so meticulously. This allowed you to be very calm and unflappable most times unlike certain high ranking members of the “lastminute.com” group who shall remain nameless! The memory of your many labeled envelopes comes to mind, where all the monies you needed would be immediately divided up every month and put away in it’s appropriate envelope to be pulled out when needed. We also remember your love for stories and that very hearty laugh when you were amused by something. As for your memory, that was legendary , truly like an elephant’s. You remembered all our birthdays, your grandchildren’s, nieces, nephews, everyone. You remembered people, relationships, events. And that mind was sharp right to the very end. Could the Sudoku you liked to play have anything to do with that? So now you and Daddy are together again. It would have been a lovely reunion. It is when we get to Ibadan that it will really hit hard. For now, our hearts are simply full of thanksgiving to Almighty God that you did not suffer greatly or linger in pain and hardship. We are so grateful that you had such a full life and that it is we your children gathering to bury you We will miss you so much . Thank God. Thank God. Thank you 🙏🏾 Biola, Susan and Lande.
